Terms of use

The games are free. These are the few rules that come with them.

Who runs this

A World a Day is run by Swelis International e.U., Kefedergrundgasse 2, 1210 Vienna, Austria (Impressum). How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.

The games

You can play without an account, and there’s nothing to pay. We check our facts against sources like Wikipedia, Wiktionary and the World Bank, but mistakes can slip through. If you spot one, tell us at hello@swelis.com and we’ll fix it. We may change, pause or retire games, and we can’t promise the site is always available.

Accounts

Accounts are for people aged 14 or over. Keep your password to yourself. You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may close an account that’s used to attack the site or other players.

Names in Duel and Crowd Trivia

The name you type is shown to the other players. Don’t use a name that is unlawful, insulting or hateful, that pretends to be someone else, or that gives away someone else’s personal details. We don’t check names automatically. When one is reported to us, a person at Swelis looks at it, and we may remove the name, the duel or the room. Duels are deleted after 30 days anyway, and Crowd rooms after two hours.

Reporting content

To report something you think is illegal or breaks these rules, email hello@swelis.com with:

We confirm receipt, decide without undue delay and tell you what we did. You can also contact us there in English or German as the contact point under the EU Digital Services Act.

What’s ours and what isn’t

The games, their design and our texts belong to Swelis International e.U. The data we build on belongs to others and is used under their licences, listed under credits and licences.

Liability

We’re fully liable for harm we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence, we’re liable only as far as the law doesn’t allow this to be excluded. Nothing here limits your rights as a consumer.

Changes and law

If these terms change, we’ll update this page and the date below. Austrian law applies, but if you’re a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.
